Stability & Investment in Neighborhoods


A number of factors can influence the desirability and stability of a neighborhood.  Familiarity and interaction with other residents, stability of the residential population, and financial investment by the corporate and small business sectors can influence the health and growth of a community.

 

This aspiration presents data and information for three indicators, which are listed in the grey panel on the right side of this page.  Specifically, the three indicators within this aspiration report the following:  

 

  • Residential stability: Information on residential stability from Census 2000, as well as general mobility levels for Dallas at the city, county, and PMSA (Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area) levels, as well as Collin and Denton Counties for 2003
  • Involvement of neighborhood associations: Presence of neighborhood associations in the cities of Dallas, Denton, and Plano
  • Small business loans: The number and dollar value of loan guarantees provided through the Small Business Association (SBA) loan program in Texas’ major cities—Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio
